SNOW!
OMG, SNOW! It was snowing in Austria all week, not that much was accumulating in the city, but it just made everything so much more festive. The city's decorations have been up for quite a while, but it was between 45 and 55 F (7-12 C) and raining almost constantly. But this last week it finally got cold, and of course it got really cold, but it is December. Snow makes me so happy, I have been singing this song all week!

I ♥ Rachel Maddow
Like, woah. I have a serious mad crush on Rachel Maddow, and the way that she ripped Richard Cohen a new one just made it 100x stronger.

Red mentions it here in her post and Minxie mentioned the idiocy as well regarding Uganda and the law that would kill gays.

Care to watch the awesomeness for yourself? Go now! Seriously!

Must Read!
The lovely and amazing [info]fansee posted a wonderful fic from the equally amazing [info]chering This fic is the definition of a "must read". It is little conversations full of teh love that were omitted from the show-it reads like it was originally there and was simply edited out.

So go now and READ IT!

OMG OMG OMG!
*iz ded* The QAF fandom is so amazing. I got a wonderful email yesterday afternoon, while I was baking a "Crustless Apple Pie" aka Apple Crisp for my third American Thanksgiving in Vienna.

(the following is an anonymous gift)

Your InsaneJournal account "etextraordinary" has been upgraded to a
Permanently Insane account.
InsaneJournal Team

When I saw this email, my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe it. One of my lovely friends here gave me a Permanently Insane account with Insane Userpics!!!!!!! *does happy dance*

I was trying to figure out what I could do to give something back to the wonderful fandom, and I decided on two things. If you have any fic prompts you would like post them and I will try to get them back to you ASAP (hopefully with in 2 weeks). And part 2- do you love chocolate? I will send you some delicious (German) Chocolate from Austria. If you give me your address in a PM or at my email (etextraordinary @ gmail.com) I will mail you a tasty holiday treat!

Tell me a scene that makes you melt. It has to be a scene that causes your heart to skip a beat every single time you watch it.

The scene that makes me melt every time I watch it is the Prom Dance scene. I love how close they are, Brian is leading Justin around the floor, so lovingly and they are sharing one of the most romantic moments; ridiculously romantic-Brian might quip. This scene also breaks my heart. I know what this scene caused (or at least helped provoke) and that kills me. I have a really hard time watching 122 because of the ending, I know that it is so real, and it very easily could be someone I love and care about.

This episode, for me, feels like being pushed off a cliff. It is so sweet with the dance, I am so happy for them and I wish I could be one of them, either of them for just a minute. Then I get shoved off the cliff and I am practically in tears and feel sick to my stomach.

Mid-week Hilarity
While attempting to avoid actually doing work, as per usual, I found two particularly wonderful YouTube videos. The first is by far my favorite. Hal Sparks is the officiant for a faux lesbian wedding in CA. It was a launch for a new equality clothing line, "All Love is Equal". It is very well done. And the brides even exchange rings...or more hoops (hula hoops).

Hal Sparks as a Priest )

The second one I found was the decade in 7 minutes. Its brilliantly done and hilarious. Although it is really scary to think that the decade is all but over...

In case you missed it )

I did it!
*does a happy dance*

I have finally finished part one of my Grad School application. I needed to create a "writing sample", basically proving that I can write semi-intelligently. It is 14 pages long (if someone would like to tear it apart read/edit it for me, I would more than appreciate having another set of eyes looking at it) and talking about nostalgia for the former East Germany, in particular two films that came out about 10 years ago.

Now I just need to write my personal statement, outlining what I want to do and why, and exactly why I'm awesome, amazing, and wonderful a good candidate, so they will give me lots of money to go there! I have to fill out 6 applications and remind my recommendation letter writers to get them done and submit them. But I'm very excited because the hardest part is done, well besides fixing it.

I'm also hoping to have time to write my idea for [info]_alicesprings Friends and Lovers Challenge. We'll see, sadly applying for Grad school has to come first. I am completely stumped for my Christmas Xchange present, I understand what my person wants but I can't find a logical situation to get it there. Can I bounce ideas off of anyone?

Gleek out!
I have a confession-I am hopelessly addicted to Glee. It is amazing, it reminds me a bit of my friends in High School, only we weren't in show choir, we were in band. I absolutely love the music and the humor is very witty and I have a slightly massive crush on Tina. *points to icon*

I can recommend some wonderful music: Artie singing Dancing with Myself, Lean on Me with the entire cast, a mid-nineties gem the Thong Song, and possibly the best song thus far: Single Ladies featuring the adorable Kurt (who in a frightening way reminds me of many people I knew in high school)! I really want to get the Glee soundtracks, it makes me so ridiculously happy.

I'm also attempting to make icons *points to icon again*, I don't think it looks to bad for the first one I've made. Feel free to snag it if you are so inclined. And if you wonderful icon makers out there have any tips for a newbie, they would be more than appreciated!

Icon Quesion
I was watching 101 tonight with a friend of mine, who has seen everything except for season one... I was wondering if anyone knows if there is an icon that has the close up of Michael and Brian on the roof of the hospital, when Brian has the adorable smile (like in this cap from Reminiscent Designs).

Also if you are looking for something fun to do on a Sunday afternoon/evening, come over and play in the 105 marathon, we'd love to have everyone join us!!

Profound Brian
"The reason you don't have a boyfriend is because you don't want one." Brian
"I don't?" Ted
"If you had one, it would challenge the well established opinion you have of yourself as a worthless sack of shit, that no body wants. Therefore, you go after guys that you know will reject you; and you stand around here and bitch like a high school girl. When in fact you've gotten exactly what you want; mainly, nothing." Brian

I was watching episode 214 today (I finally own all 5 seasons, *does excited happy dance*) and this line really struck me, so much so that I had to rewind it and watch it again. At first Brian just seems like a cocky asshole, but if you read between the lines of what he is saying, it is actually rather kind and decent advice.

Cut for a Meta-esque analysis )

Don't forget tomorrow at 8pm CET (2pm east coast/11am west coast) we will be marathoning episode 105 over at [info]qaf_marathons. I hope to see all of you there!

Going through withdrawal
After ranting about the stupidity of the Brian and Justin on Twitter; I was told by a few friends (THANK YOU) that I needed to stop ASAP because it was going to do damage to me. I think they are right. I unfollowed them Tuesday morning and am now going through a bit of bad!fic/crack withdrawal.

Is it sad that I'm missing this drivel?

Monday Night Funnies
Because Mondays suck, a little bit of Monday night funnies are in order.

The oddest book title prize nominees are up for this year, with gems like "Baboon Metaphysics", "Strip and Knit with Style", and "The 2009-2014 World Outlook for 60-milligram Containers of Fromage Frais" I don't even know what that last one is talking about, but I almost want to buy the book because of the crazy title and I'm rather curious now.

They also have 28 of the oddest book titles of all time. Including "After the Orgy" and they just get better from there!

Enjoy!

OMG YAY! I have tiles in my bathroom again! The tiler guy has been grouting them all afternoon today (working on Sunday nonetheless). Which means, that soon I will have a functioning shower again! It has been almost 3 weeks, but soon it will all be better!

Double YAY, there are tons and tons of fic to read, icons to snag, and vids to watch! Fall Challenge and the Weather/Vacation Challenge. What more could you want on a lazy Sunday afternoon!

And some lovely pumpkins from the Kürbisfest (Pumpkin festival) in Zellerndorf, a tiny town in the middle of no where. Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!

Fic Meme
I saw this earlier this weekend, but I didn't have time to post anything. So I am joining [info]_alicesprings's party a bit late. But I suppose better late than never!

AU: I know this fic has been mentioned before, but it is my favorite AU: Pulse Point by Xie. I ♥ this fic!

Post 513: The lovely Xie's Only Time 'Verse and Vamp's The end done right. In my crazy/twisted/completely insane head these two fics have merged and created one giant ultimate post-513 universe. I'm not sure why or how, but they did. I love them both!

Drabble: Its not just one drabble, but it is a brilliant series by Hounded, Rimshot. An entire drabble series about rimming that is completely PG rated, I never thought it was possible until I read this!

Humor or Crack: Its not really crack, but its really funny. Brian and Justin as Porn stars in Superstar by Vamp.

Gapfiller or fic from show's run: I actually don't think I have one to rec, I have read a few and now I barely remember them. Although I am attempting to write a gapfiller fic right now, for between 308 and 309... Does anyone have any good recs for gapfillers?

Porny, Hot Sexy Fun Times: And for porny goodness... there is so much to choose from. One of the best comes from Notreallyme10, her fantastic Sixteen Times series.

Is your fruit lonely?
"NO! No no no no. No no no no no. This fruit lonely. The other fruit so far away. And this fruit just wants to play." *giggles*

No I swear I haven't completely lost it. Improv Everywhere does "missions" that disrupt and cause scenes in public. They have done many, and are most famous for their No pants subway rides. This time they did a musical about fruit in a grocery store; laced with innuendo.

"Lets squish our fruit together." LAMO!

Its clearly not Monday!
Things are starting to go my way today! YAY!

I got a package from my Mom with some Halloween gifts in it! She sent me Halloween socks (I know normal people aren't excited about socks, but I am), a "Spooky Tree Stump" candle holder, and Halloween cookie cutters! Sometimes my Mother is very sweet-normally she laughs at my obsession with Halloween, but she is sending me things for it!

Also, I think the best news I've had in a while... I have a bath tub again. My bathroom is on its way to being functioning again. We were also given a time frame for the remainder of the repairs. They are hoping to have it done on Saturday or Monday-which is a holiday in Austria. So by early next week I should have a beautiful new bathroom and a functioning shower. I never thought I would be this excited about a shower, but I really am!

I also don't have to prep for work tomorrow, so I can play around in Fandom tonight and hopefully get one of my Challenge fics written!

La vita e bella!

Grumblecakes
I've got a few things today.

1. Most importantly- Giant THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the 101 marathon last night at [info]qaf_marathons If you still want to participate, pop over here and add your two cents; there are some excellent discussions going on!

2. Major RL Grumble, with pictures )

3. I saw yesterday that a church in North Carolina is holding a book burning on Halloween. They are planning on burning books from the Pope, Mother Theresa, other religious figures, and all non-King James versions of the bible. *sigh* I think all I have to say is "At first they burn books, eventually they burn people."

4. My wonderful fandom, I could use your help. I am writing for Bunny's Fall Challenge and I have a good idea and the fic is on its way. I am also participating in [info]_alicesprings's Weather/Vacation challenge over at [info]qaf_challenges and I am not sure what to write about. Does anyone have any bunnies or ideas or first lines that I could play with?
